Hilton, in an op-ed Tuesday, mocked the flailing governor for tweeting more than leading. Newsom let things burn so he could troll Trump when the president inevitably responded:

…when President Trump weighed in with his decision to deploy the National Guard, the California Democrat chorus started bleating about ‘escalation’ and how Trump had ‘manufactured’ the crisis.

At the heart of it all, the increasingly preposterous figure of Gavin Newsom.

What was his main response to the devastating scenes of chaos unfolding in his state’s largest city? Trolling Trump on social media.

What was the only action Newsom has actually taken, Hilton wondered? His answer: filing a lawsuit in the hope that an activist judge would tell Trump to remove the troops. (No such luck so far; a federal judge did not issue a temporary restraining order Tuesday despite Newsom’s request and has scheduled further argument on the issue.)
