‘How many guys can go from The Sopranos to Hallmark?’ Steve Schrippa said.

Steve Schirripa just checked another item off his to-do list. While he might be best known for playing tough-guy characters in shows like The Sopranos and Blue Bloods, Schirripa has long wanted to appear in a far more wholesome role: Hallmark movie star. Now, he’s finally getting his chance with a part in the upcoming rom-com Sisterhood, Inc.

Sisterhood, Inc. stars Rachael Leigh Cook as a corporate exec named Megan who starts a board of directors to improve her younger sister’s (Daniella Monet) chaotic life. In the process, she finds romance with a psych professor (Leonidas Gulaptis) who uncovers her tough demeanor. Schirripa plays a member of the board.

In an interview with Us Weekly (via YouTube), he said he was thrilled to go from playing a gangster to someone with a more squeaky-clean demeanor.

“I never did a Hallmark movie,” he said. “I was offered one years ago. It was, believe it or not, a bucket list thing. How many guys can go from The Sopranos to Hallmark? But I made the jump and I was very happy and we had a wonderful time. And we shot it up in the Albany area. It’s a Valentine’s Day kind of movie. The cast is wonderful. I really had a good time. I hope to do more.”

Schrippa might have some time in his schedule for more Hallmark movies. He spent nine years playing Detective Anthony Abetemarco on the CBS cop drama Blue Bloods, but that show ended in December 2024.

‘The Blue Bloods’ stars says ‘Sisterhood, Inc.’ was a nice change of pace

Schrippa went on to describe his Hallmark debut as “very nice.”

“No arguing, no killing, no nothing. Even on Blue Bloods, which I loved, you know, I must have killed four or five people. I killed more people as a cop than I did as a mobster,” he said.

While this is Schrippa’s first Hallmark movie, he was no stranger to the network’s signature brand of feel-good flicks going into the project.

“I’ve watched my share,” he said. “I’m not glued to it, but yeah, I’ve watched. It’s just a nice vibe. Sometimes, you’re not in a great mood. You don’t want to watch anything heavy. If I want to watch bad stuff, I put the news on. Sometimes, you just want to watch something nice.”

Sisterhood, Inc. premieres Saturday, Feb. 22 at 9 p.m. ET on Hallmark Channel.  It streams the next day on Hallmark+.
