This past weekend, California Republicans hit the ground running at the Fall 2025 Convention with one clear goal: stop Proposition 50, Gavin Newsom’s latest attempt to seize power from the people. With the state at the center of a gerrymandering fight that could shape politics for a generation, the stakes have never been higher.
What stood out most was the energy. Not just the usual grassroots buzz, but an unusual surge of attendees under 40. For years, Democrats have claimed a lock on young voters, yet the convention floor told a different story: the next generation of Republicans is showing up, engaged, and ready to fight.
That energy was met with a level of accessibility from elected officials and candidates that delegates don’t always see. Assemblymembers David Tangipa and Kate Sanchez (both Young Republicans themselves) headlined the California Young Republican Federation’s legislative panel, taking direct aim at Prop 50.
Our nominee for @cyrfgop Chair Kristen Nicole Valle moderated a fascinating panel in front of a PACKED audience with Assemblyman @DavidTangipa and Assemblywoman @KateSanchezCA at the Fall 2025 @CAGOP Convention! 🇺🇸
