THIS is the shocking moment a Republican Texas election candidate shared footage of herself torching the Quran with a flamethrower in a vile Islamophobic campaign ad.
In the video, Valentina Gomez claims her goal is to “end Islam” in Texas – despite Muslims making up just one per cent of the state’s population.
Gomez, who is running in the GOP primary for Texas’ 31st congressional District, caused outrage after posting the video of herself burning a copy of the Muslim holy book on X on Monday.
She is heard saying in the video: “America is a Christian nation, so those terrorist Muslims can *** to any of the 57 Muslim nations.
“There is only one true God, and that is the God of Israel.”
This is not Gomez’s first display of Islamophobic views.
In April, she disrupted a Muslim event at the Texas Capitol, where she ranted that Islam was a “religion of rape, incest and paedophilia”, mocked the way Muslims pray and called the Prophet Muhammad a “false prophet”.
Gomez has also spread hateful rhetoric targeting the LGBTQ community, Black people and immigrants.
In October last year, she posted a video of herself burning two LGBTQ books on social media, captioned: “When I’m Secretary of State, I will BURN all books that are grooming, indoctrinating, and sexualizing our children. MAGA. America First.”
She later complained that her clip had been censored on Instagram and X for hateful conduct.
In May last year, she stirred further controversy with a video telling voters: “In America, you can be anything you want, so don’t be weak and gay.”
Then in December, she posted a disturbing video showing her shooting a hooded dummy in a mock public execution of a migrant.
In that video, she said: “It’s that simple, public executions for any illegal that rapes or kills an American.
“They don’t deserve deportation, they deserve to be ended.”
The video was removed from X for violating its violent speech policy.
Gomez appears to have banned from Instagram at some point last year.
After her latest stunt on Monday, she faced a storm of backlash.
Podcaster Brian Allen wrote on X: “Texas GOP candidate Valentina Gomez just released a campaign ad burning the Quran and vowing to “end Islam in Texas.”
“This isn’t politics. It’s incitement. When the mosques start burning, remember: this was the match and the Texas GOP handed her the lighter.”
Meanwhile, one X user wrote: “Get out of my state. We have no place for intolerance and hateful people who don’t believe in basic human rights such as THE FIRST AMENDMENT which allows for freedom of religion.
“Why don’t you learn the basics before running for office?”
Though Gomez presents herself as a staunch MAGA candidate, she has not received an endorsement from Donald Trump.
She has raised just over $7,000 for her race as of June 30, according to Federal Election Commission records.
