What a Difference a President Makes: The Trump Border Successes vs. Biden's Failures

President Trump, of course, is not a career politician, having come from the business world. During his first presidential campaign he started right in smashing political norms, and we remember a commentator on the television news in early 2016 noting that people couldn’t figure Donald Trump’s “angle” precisely for that reason; “If you keep in mind,” the commenter (who is was escapes the mind at this distance in time) “…that he’s not a politician, and remember that he’s still basically a real-estate guy from Queens, you’ll understand him better.”

Even so, in both politics and business, there are occasions that call for a little – or a lot – of self-promotion. There are also occasions where counting coup is in order. On the mess that Joe Biden left behind on our nation’s borders, Trump’s policies are already having a big impact, and yes, the president is counting coup. On Saturday, he took to his Truth Social platform (here re-posted on X) to give some specifics.

The president’s post reads:

The month of February, my first full month in Office, had the LOWEST number of Illegal Immigrants trying to enter our Country in History – BY FAR! There were only 8,326 apprehensions of Illegals by Border Patrol at the U.S. – Mexico Border, all of whom were quickly ejected from our Nation or, when necessary, prosecuted for crimes against the United States of America. This means that very few people came – The Invasion of our Country is OVER. In comparison, under Joe Biden, there were 300,000 Illegals crossing in one month, and virtually ALL of them were released into our Country. Thanks to the Trump Administration Policies, the Border is CLOSED to all Illegal Immigrants. Anyone who tries to illegally enter the U.S.A. will face significant criminal penalties and immediate deportation.

It’s all about incentives – and in January, specifically on January 20th, the incentives to cross into the United States illegally changed. The numbers reflect that.
