Tim Walz Called Out Over Viral Video of MN Daycare Tied to Millions With No Kids and a Misspelled Sign

A video rapidly circulating online has cast a spotlight on the Quality Learning Center in Minneapolis, stirring renewed discussion about alleged fraudulent practices within Minnesota’s child care programs during Governor Tim Walz’s administration.

Captured by independent videographer Nick Shirley, the footage, shared across social media, depicts an ostensibly deserted daycare. According to reports by Fox News, this center is authorized to accommodate up to 99 children, yet the scenes tell a different story, with Shirley remarking, “There’s no one here.”

In the video, Shirley, accompanied by another person, approaches the facility, only to be met with a tense exchange. A woman at the daycare warns others inside, exclaiming, “Don’t open up. It’s ICE.”

Her defensive stance culminates with a pointed rebuke: “Go away. You’re not welcome here. Shame on you.”

At one point, he and another man approach the building, prompting a woman there to shout to others, “Don’t open up. It’s ICE.”

“Go away. You’re not welcome here. Shame on you,” the woman states.

Shirley notes that, according to his research, the center was the beneficiary of a good chunk of taxpayer funds in the 2025 fiscal year, yet couldn’t even take the time to spell the word “learning” correctly on their sign.

“Are you in favor of $1.9 million going illegally/fraudulently to this business that [is called] ‘Quality Learning Center’ but can’t spell ‘learning’ right on the door?” he asks.

There is a shocking and simultaneously expected level of ignorance coming from the woman in that video. It’s unclear if she’s associated with the daycare or if she’s simply a random leftist trying to protect the fraudsters. This is the kind of individual who ignorantly votes for people who will fleece the taxpayer and then ignorantly pretends they didn’t go ahead and plunder the state coffers.

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (MN-6) publicly called out Walz, questioning the disbursement of taxpayer funds to a seemingly inactive center.

“4 million dollars of hard-earned tax dollars going to an education center that can’t even spell learning correctly. Care to explain this one, Tim Walz?” Emmer asked.

The $4 million figure was referenced in the report as a total disbursement to the Quality Learning Center. However, a report from St. Paul’s ABC affiliate in January indicates that the daycare had, by that point, received “$7.8 million in federal tax money since 2019 despite its regulatory issues.”

Those regulatory issues involved 95 violations from the state human services agency over four years, ranging from “failure to keep hazardous items away from children” to “no records for 16 children.”

Why are daycares in Minnesota struggling to explain where the children are?

This wild video comes as the Somali community is embroiled in a fraud scandal that some observers estimate may have cost as much as $9 billion. Some businesses have been accused of funneling millions of those fraudulently obtained funds to the terror group Al-Shabaab.

Shirley posted a lengthier 43-minute video on YouTube in which he claims to have uncovered over $110 million in fraud by visiting questionable daycares and health services buildings in just one day.

Another clip going viral on X shows Shirley asking for rates at a building with several healthcare companies, only to be repeatedly rebuffed (except by one woman) and eventually have the police called on him.

“We’re getting escorted out right now. The police have arrived,” Shirley says in the video. “We were checking out the rates, seeing what was happening inside this building. No one would really speak with us.”

Shirley, in a separate post on X, claims the alleged fraud he’s confronting is just barely scratching the surface.

“Tim Walz and the fraudsters aren’t escaping this one,” he said. “In one day, my crew and I uncovered over $110,000,000 in fraud. This is just the tip of the iceberg.”

“We the people simply work too hard and pay too much in taxes to allow this to happen; they must be held accountable.”

Walz is facing intense scrutiny and mounting calls for an investigation into his role in allowing the state’s exploding multi-billion-dollar welfare fraud schemes to take place under his watch. But will he be held accountable? Will anybody involved in this scandal be held responsible? Time will tell.
