NEW parents could see a $5,000 payout after having a baby as part of President Donald Trump’s new plans to boost America’s birthrate.

The Trump administration is said to be brainstorming ways to convince more women to get married and have children, according to reports from White House insiders.

One of the president’s ideas to incentivize birth is handing out a $5,000 “baby bonus” to moms after they deliver babies, according to the New York Times.

The plan also considers offering tax credits to married couples with children.

Families would get more money back from the government in taxes for each extra kid they have.

The payout and the expanded tax credit would both require Congress to act to go into effect, which could slow down the process.

However, other proposals could be put into place more quickly.

An idea shared with Trump aides suggested reserving 30% of scholarships for a government-backed international fellowship called the Fulbright Program for applicants who are married with kids.

Another proposal would create government-funded programs to teach women about their menstrual cycles.

The programs would operate in hopes that women would identify the reasons for their infertility and learn when they’re most likely to get pregnant.

The education could be implemented through school sex education programs or adult classes.

The Trump administration hasn’t decided on a final plan to push a higher birthrate, according to the NYT.

What is IVF, how does it work and can the treatment be done on the NHS?

It’s unclear if any of the plans will be carried out.

The push for more babies comes as the US birthrate has dropped since 2007, according to reports by the CDC.

Trump has long included increasing the birthrate as part of his agenda.

He teased the baby bonuses at the Conservative Political Action Conference in 2023 while campaigning for his second term.

“We will support baby booms and we will support baby bonuses for a new baby boom,” Trump said at the time.

“I want a baby boom.”

Trump administration’s ideas to increase birthrate

President Donald Trump is reportedly weighing ideas to encourage women to have more children.

Some of the ideas pitched by Trump aides include:

  • A $5,000 “baby bonus” for new moms
  • Tax credits for married couples with additional children
  • 30% of Fulbright Program scholarships going to parents
  • Education programs to teach about menstrual cycles

Last month, Trump called himself the “fertilization president” as he spoke about his efforts to expand in vitro fertilization.

In February, he signed an executive order making IVF cheaper and more accessible.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who has a son of her own, said in a statement that Trump “is proudly implementing policies to uplift American families.”

“The President wants America to be a country where all children can safely grow up and achieve the American dream,” Leavitt said, according to the Times.

“As a mother myself, I am proud to work for a president who is taking significant action to leave a better country for the next generation.”
