Fake News: Trump Drops $10 Billion Lawsuit on the BBC for Manipulating J6 Interview

For years, Donald Trump has been vocal about his disdain for what he calls “fake news,” but his actions have spoken louder than words. He has successfully secured substantial settlements from CBS News over a controversial Kamala Harris interview, as well as from ABC News and its anchor George Stephanopoulos, who erroneously stated that Trump had been convicted of rape—an unfounded claim.

Currently, Trump has set his sights on the British Broadcasting Network, targeting them with a $10 billion lawsuit. He alleges that their documentary, Panorama, misrepresented his statements regarding the events of January 6.

And just like that, the saga continues.

Trump sued the BBC for both defamation and for a violation of Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act for $5 billion apiece, as the president is seeking $10 billion total. The suit, filed in the Southern District of Florida Federal Court, was filed in a personal capacity and names BBC and BBC studios productions as defendants.Ā

“The formerly respected and now disgraced BBC defamed President Trump by intentionally, maliciously, and deceptively doctoring his speech in a brazen attempt to interfere in the 2024 Presidential Election. The BBC has a long pattern of deceiving its audience in coverage of President Trump, all in service of its own leftist political agenda. President Trump’s powerhouse lawsuit is holding the BBC accountable for its defamation and reckless election interference just as he has held other fake news mainstream media responsible for their wrongdoing,” a spokesperson for Trump’s legal team told Fox News Digital.Ā

Ā Boom.

Earlier on Monday, the president had previewed the legal action, saying the BBC put fake words in his mouth:

Trump alleges in the 33-page lawsuit that the notoriously leftist outlet broadcast a ā€œfalse, defamatory, deceptive, disparaging, inflammatory, and malicious depiction of President Trump,ā€ alleging that deceptive editing was clearly ā€œa brazen attempt to interfere in and influenceā€ the ā€˜24 presidential election. Specifically, he called out their splicing together two separate parts of his speech on January 6, 2021, to make it look like he had called for violent action.

The BBC’s blatant manipulation of information is everything that we hate about the media:

The BBC had broadcast the hourlong documentary — titled ā€œTrump: A Second Chance?ā€ — days before the 2024 U.S. presidential election. It spliced together three quotes from two sections of the 2021 speech, delivered almost an hour apart, into what appeared to be one quote in which Trump urged supporters to march with him and ā€œfight like hell.ā€ Among the parts cut out was a section where Trump said he wanted supporters to demonstrate peacefully.

The publicly funded network (it gets its funds from a TV license fee, an annual mandatory charge on UK households that watch or record live television broadcasts) had already paid a price for its lying ways. They issued a limp apology to Trump — although they refused to admit they’d engaged in defamation — and several top executives resigned.

Fake news has disgusted conservatives for so long now because it seemingly almost always works against us and rarely happens against the Left, but Trump has figured out a way to mete out consequences: hit ā€˜em in the wallet.

Given the success of some of Trump’s previous efforts, I’m guessing the BBC is quaking in their boots tonight.
