On Monday, President Donald Trump announced that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz reached out to him for a discussion following the recent Border Patrol incident in Minneapolis, which resulted in the death of protester Alex Pretti. Trump shared that Gov. Walz suggested collaboration between the state and federal government in response to the situation.
President Trump noted that both he and Gov. Walz appeared to share a common understanding during their conversation. He mentioned that Walz and Border Czar Tom Homan would soon engage in further talks. Trump emphasized the administration’s focus on identifying and addressing any criminal elements involved.
Gov. Walz described the dialogue with President Trump as “productive.” However, he also claimed that Minnesota is complying with ICE detainers concerning criminal illegal immigrants—a statement that my colleague Ward Clark has critically examined and discussed further in his report.
In turn, Walz called the conversation “productive” while also deceptively claiming that ICE detainers for criminal illegal immigrants are being honored by the state of Minnesota, something my RedState colleague Ward Clark carefully dissected below.
