During Wednesday’s episode of NBC’s “Meet the Press NOW,” Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson expressed his concerns over former President Donald Trump’s divisive tactics, particularly highlighting the issue of immigration. Johnson asserted that Trump is concentrating on creating rifts among people based on their immigration status, whether they are documented or undocumented. He suggested that if Trump truly desired, he could have advanced legislation to provide a pathway to citizenship.

Mayor Johnson elaborated on his position by stating, “It’s a mistake for this President to persistently seek out issues that drive wedges between people in our country. If he were genuinely committed to establishing a pathway to citizenship and securing our borders, he would utilize his control over the government to introduce legislation that could accomplish these goals.”

He further criticized, “Time and again, this President has shown a preference for sowing divisions along racial lines and immigration status rather than working to unite people on the values that matter to working families.” By doing so, Johnson implied that Trump’s actions betray a lack of genuine interest in addressing the core concerns of ordinary citizens.
