In a recent tele-rally held on the eve of Virginia’s gubernatorial election, President Trump notably refrained from mentioning Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears by name. Instead, Trump directed his focus towards promoting Jason Miyares, urging voters to support him and the entire Republican ticket in the state.

“Get out and vote tomorrow for Jason Miyares; it’s so important,” Trump emphasized during the call. “And the Republicans up and down the ballot. We have Republicans up and down.”

The president heaped praise upon Miyares, describing him as “maybe the best” attorney general. Trump went further by asserting his full endorsement, saying, “Jason Miyares is a fantastic man, a fantastic attorney general. He has my complete and total endorsement.”

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin participated in the call, ensuring that Earle-Sears and the rest of the Republican candidates were acknowledged. However, he, too, reserved his highest commendation for Miyares, aligning with Trump’s enthusiastic support.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) was also on the call and mentioned Earle-Sears, along with the rest of the statewide Republican ticket. The governor also offered the most praise to Miyares.

“We have great candidates in Winsome Sears for governor, John Reid for lieutenant governor, and of course, our great attorney general, who I think is the best attorney general in America; we gotta rehire him again as our attorney general,” Youngkin said.

Trump’s apparent snub of Earle-Sears comes after Trump formally endorsed former Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) in New York City’s mayoral race. The president also endorsed a slew of congressional Republicans ahead of next year’s midterm elections on Monday afternoon.

Trump praised Earle-Sears last month as “very good,” but has notably stopped short of backing her. The two have a complicated history dating back to when Earle-Sears criticized Trump following Republicans’ underwhelming 2022 midterm performance, saying in an interview that a true leader understands when they have become a liability. Trump hit back at Earle-Sears, calling her “a phony” and saying he never felt good about her.
