Vice President Vance will travel to Europe next week for his first foreign trip since the inauguration, a VP spokesperson confirmed to The Hill.

Vance will travel to the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit in France and the Munich Security Conference in Germany, The Washington Post first reported.

The AI Action Summit, which runs February 10 to 11, is set to take place at the Grand Palais in Paris. Vance’s participation in the summit comes as competition between the U.S. and China has heated up over AI development amid the surge of Chinese AI startup DeepSeek last week.

President Trump on Friday met with CEO of chipmaking powerhouse Nvidia and is reportedly mulling tightening chip exports to China. Trump has also announced a new project to invest up to $500 billion in building the infrastructure needed for AI. He said he will use his energy emergency declaration to approve power stations for AI centers.

Vance will then travel to Germany for The Munich Security Conference, which takes place from February 14 to 16 and focuses on global security challenges, including on issues like democracy and climate security.

Former Vice President Harris traveled to the annual gathering last year, where she delivered a speech. She also met with foreign leaders to discuss the situations at the time in Ukraine and the Middle East.

Trump has not yet announced his first foreign trip as president.
