President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently made a poignant visit to Jos, where he met with victims of the tragic Palm Sunday attack. His visit was filled with empathy and a promise of government support for those affected by the horrific event.
Amidst his visit, President Tinubu took the time to speak directly to survivors and the bereaved, including Favour Rhoda, a mother whose sorrowful video holding her deceased son captured widespread attention online.
In his address, the President candidly acknowledged the limitations of material assistance. “There’s no power at the airport, and I need to return soon. To the victims, I cannot offer anything, no matter how substantial, that can truly console you,” he expressed.
He continued, offering compassion to Rhoda by saying, “I understand the torment. I witnessed the video of you clinging to Ayuba, and I felt the anguish within you. Only God can provide true solace and happiness.”
President Tinubu admitted that no financial restitution could ever replace the precious lives that were lost, emphasizing the profound pain and challenges faced by the grieving families.
He, however, assured the victims that measures would be taken to prevent a recurrence of such tragic incidents across the country.
“No amount of money can pay all of you back, but I promise that this experience will not repeat itself,” he added.
The visit comes amid growing concerns over insecurity, as Nigerians continue to demand lasting solutions to protect lives and communities.
