A seasoned Fox News presenter has announced a temporary hiatus from her role, citing ‘health concerns’ as the reason for her departure.

Janice Dean, the network’s 55-year-old weather anchor, shared in a heartfelt Instagram update that she will be pausing her duties for an indefinite period. Dean, who has been living with the autoimmune condition multiple sclerosis since 2005, explained her decision this week.

She conveyed that she is facing certain ‘health challenges’ and emphasized the need for ‘rest and time to recuperate’ to regain her ‘health and strength.’

‘I wanted to share with you all that I’ll be stepping away from work (and social media) temporarily,’ she expressed.

‘Although I’m okay, there are health matters that necessitate rest and healing time,’ she added.

She explained that she recently took a trip to Rome, Italy, with her husband, Sean Newman, which allowed her to ‘start healing spiritually,’ but added her focus was now shifting to her physical health.

The TV star went on to praise her ‘bosses at Fox’ who have been ‘kind and understanding.’

‘I feel blessed to be able to take a break to be with my family,’ she continued.

‘The trip to Rome with Sean was a good place to start healing spiritually, and now I have to get back to feeling healthy and strong.’

‘I’ve always been up front and honest about my life, and I felt I owed you an explanation of my absence. But, I will be back. Grateful to you all for the kind words,’ she concluded.

Dean first shared the news of her diagnosis in 2023, revealing that she had been silently battling the ‘invisible illness’ since 2005.

‘My body is attacking its central nervous system, the brain, and the spine,’ she shared at the time.

‘There’s a communication breakdown between the messages our brain sends to the rest of our body.

‘Even though we look okay on the surface – I got my hair and makeup done, I’m smiling on Fox & Friends – inside can be quite a challenge and what it feels like.’

Multiple sclerosis can cause numbness, weakness, trouble walking, vision changes and other symptoms, per Mayo Clinic.

While there is no cure, medication and therapy can help manage symptoms and slow disease progression.

Dean first started working for Fox News in 2004 and she now serves as a senior meteorologist and co-host on Fox & Friends.

She made headlines back in February 2021 after she launched a blistering attack against then-New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

She called for him to resign and to be prosecuted after a top aide admitted the administration covered up data about coronavirus-related nursing home deaths.

Among those deaths were Dean’s own father- and mother-in-law, who died from COVID-19 in March and April of 2020, respectively.
