WALGREENS shuttered doors to one of its locations as part of its mass closures to increase cost savings.
The Walgreens closure came on Monday at the Corpus Christi, Texas location about 200 miles south of Houston.

Signs were put up in the store last week to inform customers that the store would soon no longer be operating.
Customers who use the Corpus Christi location as a pharmacy will have their prescriptions transferred to the nearest Walgreens.
They will be sent to the location on Staples St – customers were informed by mail.
In July, Walgreens said it would need to close 150 US stores in 2023 as it saw a decrease in overall consumer sales and less demand for Covid vaccines, per a CNN report.

Senior manager of healthcare communications Karen May said in a statement that it has been difficult to decide which locations the company would need to close, per Yahoo News.
“When faced with the difficult decision to close a location, several factors are taken into account, including our existing footprint of stores, dynamics of the local market, and changes in the buying habits of our patients and customers, among other reasons,” May said.
“As we expand as a leader in healthcare, we are focused on best meeting the needs of patients and customers in communities we serve by creating the right network of stores in the right locations.”
CEO Rosalind Brewer said in July the company was increasing its cost-savings and “taking immediate actions to optimize profitability for our US healthcare segment,” per CNN.
Walgreens has shifted its focus to have new store outlines to help it bounce back from its recent losses.
“We are optimizing the model through our micro fulfillment centers, tech-enabled centralization of in-store activities, and telepharmacy solutions,” Walgreens Boots Alliance CFO James Kehoe said, per CNN.
