A WALMART shopper has claimed that an employee tried to get him arrested for not showing his receipt.

The man, who filmed his experience and posted it on TikTok, purchased his items at self-checkout and was seen walking out of the store when an employee asked to see his receipt.

“You know we can refuse it, right?” the man said. “Okay, well we refuse.”

He tries to walk out of the store when he starts speaking to the employee again.

It’s hard to hear what the employee told the man, who looked back and said: “I’m just saying we were just in self-checkout. I know, I’m not arguing with you.”

The employee then says something, however, it’s hard to make out exactly what was said.

The customer mentions Sam’s Club, where customers sign a membership to shop and therefore agree to have their receipts checked.

“Sam’s Club is different,” a person, presumable an employee, can be heard saying off-screen.

“But you don’t agree to that in these stores,” the shopper said.

In the end, the man makes friends with a woman who agrees that Walmart doesn’t have a right to check his receipt.

“Awwwe, I made a friend,” read the onscreen text.

The video went viral, receiving over a thousand comments.

“I know I do the same thing, it’s [sic] make them look at me crazy idk,” wrote one person.

“By law you DON’T have to show your receipt and if they insist and you didn’t steal anything it’s a $25,000 lawsuit,” wrote another person.

“I don’t show my receipts,” wrote another person. “I am not rude, I just simply tell them it is in my purse and walk off.”

A person claiming to be an ex-Walmart employee said she used to get in trouble for not checking receipts.

“I just didn’t have time to be arguing,” she said.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Walmart for comment.
