She said she received a text she thought was from her bank, quizzing her if she had wired $957 via Zelle, per the ABC affiliate KGO.

Loughran received a call moments after she denied sending the money.

She said her cell phone ID revealed the call looked like it was coming from Wells Fargo.

The caller reportedly told her that her card was being charged.

“We have to cancel your card and whoop, here comes another charge for $500,” Loughran told the outlet.

She didn’t suspect anything out of the ordinary and was told to wire money via Zelle.

Loughran ended up losing $3,500 in total.

After the money had vanished, the line suddenly went dead.

Loughran frantically tried to call the number back but no one picked up the phone.

She then called Wells Fargo and a representative told her she had been scammed.

The ordeal has left Loughran furious.

“Besides being angry, I mean, it really hurts,” she said.

Loughran said she submitted claims for each of the wire transfers.

Some of the cases remain open while others have been closed.

Wells Fargo has said that she authorized the payments.

“When a customer reports they’ve fallen victim, we do a comprehensive investigation using the same Zelle rules, laws, and regulatory guidance as other banks,” a spokesperson told KGO.

The U.S. Sun has approached Wells Fargo and Zelle for comment. We did not receive a response at the time of publication.

Zelle has warned it is difficult for customers to get money back if they give the green light to payments.

Customers who are victims of scams should call their bank straight away.

Users should only send money via Zelle to the people they trust.

Wells Fargo has also warned how scammers can pretend to be workers.

Cell phone IDs can be spoofed to make certain calls legitimate.

Bank users should be suspicious of scammers who urge them to quickly send money via Zelle.
