What is Indian Idol winner Abhijeet Sawant’s net worth?

Abhijeet Sawant has an estimated net worth of $2 million.

He was awarded the prize money of Rs 1 crore, which is roughly $120,000, and a Honda City Car for winning Indian Idol.

In September 2021, he revealed what he did with money made after the show, and why he was dissatisfied with it.

Speaking to writer Chetan Bhagat, Abhijeet said that during the peak of his fame, he was living out of a suitcase as he was flying to different shows on a daily basis.

He would sometimes sleep in his car under his home for a couple hours just so he could get a feel of home, before heading back to the airport to catch another flight for a show.

Asked if he invested his money well, he said, “I invested well. It was around the time of the 2008 recession, so a lot of the money we’d saved here and there we were realigning.

“It was a cluster at that point, but I did save well. I bought a house we well, so it was okay. But I was working for money, and I still believe that was one of my biggest regrets.”

The star went on to explain that before the covid-19 pandemic, he was dissatisfied by his music, even though he was working well and making good money.

“Maybe it’s my thinking, but when you’re running behind money, you have to compromise many things with your talent, your music, your knowledge. I realised that after 35-37, I don’t want to keep saying, ‘What to do, you have to compromise’.”

Is Abhijeet Sawant married?

Abhijeet has been married to his wife Shilpa since 2007.

Speaking of their relationship, he told DNAIndia: “I knew her for quite some time.

“We used to stay at Mahim. She was also staying in the same society and we were good friends.

‘When I proposed the first time, she rejected me.”

However, when he signed up for Indian Idol, Shilpa started showing more interest in him.

“After winning ‘Indian Idol’, I proposed to her again. She gracefully agreed and we married within a year,” he added.

The couple starred in season 4 of the Dancing Reality Show Nach Baliye.

They were eliminated after facing public votes. 

What season of Indian Idol did Abhijeet Sawant appear on?

Abhijeet Sawant became an overnight star when he won Indian Idol’s first season in 2005.

After winning the show, his first solo album, Aapka Abhijeet Sawant, was released on April 7, 2005.

His songs like Mohabbatein Lutaunga and Lafzon Mein became chartbusters.

The same year, he made his Bollywood playback debut with the song Mar Jaavan Mit Jaavan for the film Aashiq Banaya Aapne.

He then released his second album Junoon in 2007.

The following year, he finished as the first runner-up in the reality show Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar, this time losing to Rahul Vaidya.

He then made his acting debut with the film Lottery and had small appearances in the 2010 film Tees Maar Khan and played himself in cameos in CID and Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai.

He even co-hosted Indian Idol 5 with Hussain Kuwajerwala. 

Abhijeet released his third studio album Farida in 2013.

He continued to do playback in films but none of the songs were huge successes.

He released another album called Fakira in 2018.
