Who is Anthony Albanese?

Anthony Albanese is an Australian politician serving as the country’s 31st prime minister since assuming office on May 23, 2022.

Albanese has also served as the leader of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) since 2019, and as a member of parliament (MP) for the division of Grayndler, an electoral division in the state of New South Wales, since 1996.

His first acts as prime minister included:

  • Supporting an increase to the national minimum wage
  • Updating Australia’s climate targets to reach carbon neutrality by 2050
  • Proposing a change to the Constitution to include an Indigenous Voice to Parliament in an effort to represent the views of Indigenous communities

Albanese also oversaw the official commencement of the AUKUS security and defense alliance between Australia, the US, and the UK.

As part of the security partnership, the countries pledged to work together on artificial intelligence, military capabilities, and quantum technologies.

The US and the UK also agreed to help Australia acquire nuclear-powered submarines.

Albanese was previously the country’s 15th deputy prime minister, the second highest ranking officer of the Australian government, in 2013.

Who is Anthony Albanese’s ex-wife, Carmel Tebbutt?

Carmel Tebbutt served as a Labor Party Member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for Marrickville from 2005 to 2015.

She was also the country’s first female Deputy Premier of New South Wales from 2008 to 2011.

Her most recent political role was as the Minister for Health in the Keneally Government.

Tebbutt’s responsibilities included hospitals, healthcare, and medical research in New South Wales.

After retiring from politics in 2013, Tebbutt was appointed as the CEO of Medical Deans Australia and New Zealand in 2015.

In 2018, she pursued a role as CEO of the Mental Health Coordinating Council in New South Wales.

When did Anthony Albanese and Carmel Tebbutt break up?

Anthony Albanese married fellow Australian politician Carmel Tebbutt in 2000.

The political power couple were even nicknamed the King and Queen of Marrickville.

However, after nearly 30 years together, the duo separated in 2019.

Tebbutt told Albanese she wanted a divorce on New Year’s Day, just shy of twenty years of marriage.

The former couple share custody of their son, Nathan, and their dog, Toto.

Though the separation initially came as a shock to Albanese, he’s already moved on.

The prime minister has been dating Australian banker and women’s advocate Jodie Haydon since 2021.

Who is  Anthony Albanese’s son, Nathan?

Nathan Albanese, the only son of Anthony and Carmel, was born on December 8, 2000.

His parents chose to separate shortly after he turned 18.

According to The Guardian, while Nathan “is not a public figure,” he made waves in the Australian media earlier this summer.

Nathan secured a two-week, unpaid internship in PricewaterhouseCoopers International Limited Economics Policy Unit back in June 2021.

The prime minister’s son then went on to graduate from Sydney’s University of Technology with a business degree in 2022.

Nathan also made headlines after being spotted at the Qantas exclusive Chairman’s Lounge in 2023.

Membership to the airline carrier’s invitation-only lounge is typically reserved for A-list celebrities, politicians, and business executives selected by CEO Alan Joyce.
