BRIT rapper Fredo has been arrested and is currently being held in a Dubai jail, having been accused of “concealing cannabis”.
The artist hit the top of the charts in 2023 thanks to collaboration with Stormzy.
Who is Fredo?
Fredo is a British rapper and singer from Queen’s Park, London, born on March 6, 1994.
He was expelled from school before taking his GCSEs.
His father is from Barbados while his mother is of English and Moroccan descent.
Fredo’s real name is Marvin William Bailey.
He is covered in tattoos, including a large Monopoly tattoo on his right arm and flames around his neck.
Fredo’s first child, a daughter named Tori, was born in February 2020.
Why was Fredo arrested?
Fredo is said to have been accused of being in possession of cannabis and is being held in a Dubai prison in October 2023.
He could face up to three years behind bars and is believed to have already been dragged to court.
The father-of-one is believed to have been held in the Dubai jail since September, when he was allegedly caught hiding drugs on his person.
The sentence for this crime in Dubai – which has a strict zero tolerance for drugs-related offences – can be up to several years.
Radha Stirling, CEO of advocacy organisation Detained In Dubai, told The Sun: “The most likely outcome for possession of cannabis would be one to two years in prison, it could be up to three years”.
It is not clear what specific charges Bailey is facing, but it’s believed he could at least face deportation, a fine, and a ban from returning to the country.
