Buffalo Jim Barrier was a business owner based in Las Vegas. He owned an auto repair shop near the Las Vegas Strip.

He first gained local attention when he won a court dispute with his neighbor and landlord Rick Rizzolo over parking spaces.

He was also a wrestling promoter from 1994 to 1998 and even aired a local wrestling show called Jim Wars in the late 90s.

Buffalo Jim befriended a number of celebrities like Hulk Hogan, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and many other prominent wrestlers.

In 2005, he was awarded the “Las Vegas’ Most Colorful Character” by the Las Vegas Review Journal.

His daughters told the Review Journal that he had received multiple death threats in the weeks leading up to his demise.

Buffalo Jim was found dead in a Motel 6 in Las Vegas on April 6, 2008. He was lying face up and nude from the waist down.

Police also said that he had white powder on his face and ruled that his death was accidental.

However, Buffalo Jim’s friends and daughters believe that he was the victim of foul play.

On Unsolved Mysteries, his daughter Jennifer explains how she urged a detective to take a hair sample from Jim before he was buried.

She says, “he never took the hair sample.”

“I wanted that hair sample to prove my dad wasn’t a drug user because my father said that’s how they’d get him.”

Former City Council member and friend of Jim, Steve Miller said the Las Vegas police never treated the scene at Motel 6 as a crime scene.

Furthermore, Buffalo Jim’s youngest daughter Jerica, who was 15 at the time, was asked to identify the body.

Even more disturbing, his long-time rival Rick Rizzolo had been released from house arrest two days before Jim was found in Motel 6.
