A FOUR-PART docuseries on Max follows the quest to uncover the truth about Jim Mordecai.
His step-granddaughter has set out to uncover whether or not he’s the Zodiac killer.
Who was Jim Mordecai and what did he do?
Jim Mordecai was known by some as a respected teacher in the San Francisco area.
However, others, including his family, knew Mordecai as a physically and sexually abusive predator.
Mordecai’s early retirement from teaching was motivated by a scandal involving a student he attempted to assault.
According to People, Mordecai had a history of physical violence and sexual assault against women and girls.Â
The Daily Beast reports that he also “threatened to slice the throat, hogtie, and dump the body of anyone who dared displease him.”
Who is Sierra Barter?
Sierra Barter is Jim Mordecai’s step-granddaughter.
Her mother, Shannon Barter, and grandmother, Judy Mordecai, both say that Mordecai was sexually and physically violent towards them.
They also claim that he was abusive towards other women and girls, including his other stepdaughter.
In The Truth About Jim, the three women are pursuing an even darker mystery about Mordecai.
In the docuseries, they set out to try and prove that Mordecai was the Zodiac Killer.
How can I watch The Truth About Jim?
The Truth About Jim is a four-episode docu-series that will follow Sierra’s journey to uncover the truth about her step-grandfather.
The series promises to show her confronting her traumatic past and the secrets that have plagued her family for generations.
“Somebody’s grandpa was the serial killer,” she says in the trailer. “Was it mine?”
The Truth About Jim is set to premiere on February 15, 2024, exclusively on HBO Max.
