In a recent appearance on NewsNation’s “Cuomo,” Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey expressed the city’s stance against collaborating with ICE or any federal entities involved in immigration enforcement. He emphasized that this decision stems not only from a “moral imperative” but also from a desire to prioritize public safety by keeping police attention on local crime issues.

Frey asserted, “In Minneapolis, we are steadfast in our decision not to partner with ICE or any federal body concerning immigration enforcement. This choice is driven by more than just ethical considerations; it’s about ensuring our police are dedicated to maintaining safety in our communities.”

Further elaborating, he added, “Our officers should be focused on apprehending violent criminals, preventing carjackings, and responding to 911 calls. What I don’t want is for them to spend even a moment pursuing an individual, like a father from Ecuador, who has just dropped his children at daycare before heading to a grueling 12-hour work shift.”
