After Urquhart said Poilievre is “obviously taking the populist pathway,” the politician responded: “What does that mean?”
The reporter responded: “Well, appealing to people’s more emotional levels, I would guess.”
Poilievre once again asked him what he meant and asked for an example as he continued to causally enjoy the apple.
The journalist said: “Certainly you tap very strong, ideological language, quite frequently —”
Poilievre asked: “Like what?”
“Uh, left-wing, this and that, right-wing, I mean, that type of ideological stuff,” Urquhart responded.
“I almost never talk about — I never really talk about left or right. I never really believe in that,” Poilievre said.
Urquhart then claimed that “a lot of people” would compare the politician to Donald Trump, but failed to provide examples when promoted by Poilievre.
Throughout the rest of the exchange, Poilievre continued to nonchalantly munch on the apple whilst making it evident that he was not very interested in Urquhart’s questioning.
