On a recent broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina offered a scathing critique of the diplomatic efforts in Iran by former officials John Kerry, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden, labeling their strategies as unsuccessful.
Senator Graham expressed his concerns over Iran’s influence on critical maritime routes, specifically the Straits of Hormuz. He emphasized the importance of these straits, which are crucial for shipping, particularly to Europe. Graham stated that allowing Iran, which he described as a terrorist state, to control these waters is unacceptable. He outlined firm boundaries regarding Iran’s military ambitions, including the prohibition of ballistic missiles and restrictions on their uranium stockpiles, which he described as “reasonable red lines.”
Further criticizing past administrations, Graham pointed to the dangerous proximity Iran has reached toward developing nuclear weapons. He argued that Iran’s accumulation of uranium enriched to 60% is alarming, as it could enable them to produce multiple nuclear bombs within weeks. Graham held the previous U.S. administrations accountable, suggesting their policies allowed Iran to expand its missile capabilities and nuclear enrichment unchecked. According to him, these permissive policies are now being challenged under new leadership, marking a significant shift in the U.S. stance towards Iran.
