VP Vance's Response About How Different He Is From Kamala Shows Why He's Perfect for the Job

Coglianese asked this question of the vice president, and it rendered laughter and a truly surprising yet honest response.

COGLIANESE: How are you doing the job differently than Kamala did it?

VANCE: [Laughter] Uhh, well I don’t have… you know four shots of vodka before every meeting. That’s one way that Kamala really tried to bring herself into the role is these word salads. And I think that I would need the help of a lot of alcohol to answer a question the way that Kamala Harris answered questions.

LISTEN:

Where’s the lie? It’s a strong dig, yes, but from what we observed for four years of Biden-Harris, on top of the disastrous five months of her campaign, it is very possibly an accurate one. It would take a lot of lubrication for people who are known for their coherent thinking and erudite speech to sound that incoherent. Sadly, when this is the hallmark of not just your job as vice president, but your campaign for president, it reflects the lack of substance Harris brought to the role and her campaign, compared to the amount of substance and gravitas that JD Vance brought and continues to bring.

But the clip does not reflect the entire thought. Vance also spoke truth to power on some of the reasons behind why Harris could not adequately fill the role. On the Rumble podcast, Vance continued:

Look… I don’t know… my sense is—and this is a little bit of guesswork, obviously; I don’t talk to Kamala Harris or Joe Biden very often, but my sense is that there wasn’t a level of trust between Biden and Harris. She was just less empowered to do her job.

Facts. Biden’s criteria of choosing a Black female as his vice president, then being strong-armed by Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) to choose this particular one is not a firm foundation for success and explains much about why they ultimately lost, first in credibility, and then in the 2024 election. If was a person of greater substance, she might have overcome that bar and chosen to distinguish herself. As four years unfolded, this was neither her desire nor her strong suit, but it is insightful that Vance recognized and highlighted this. Vance concluded the thought by segueing into his own relationship with President Donald Trump, which is the diametric opposite of Biden’s relationship with Harris.

Luckily I am in a situation where the President trusts me. Where, if he asks me to do something, he believes it’s going to happen. And obviously we’ll talk about it and check in, but I feel empowered in a way that I think a lot of Vice President’s haven’t been. But that’s all in the service of accomplishing the President’s vision. And I think I, I try to remind myself of that every single day. The American people elected Donald J. Trump to do a job. For him to do that job successfully, the people around him, starting at the top with the Vice President, have to do their jobs well.

What a concept and what a blueprint. Not just for this Oval Office partnership, but for how to work successfully and as a unit to achieve a common goal.

To recap:

1. Vance exudes confidence because he knows he was chosen for a reason and that he has a role to play. He wasn’t just filling a quota, he was invited to be a part of a vision.

2. Vance made it clear that it is not about HIM, or even the President: It’s about being of service to the American people. The American people elected this President, therefore, by serving under this president and seeing his agenda move forward, you are serving the American people.

3. Vance understands that in order for the President to be successful, as VP he must do his job well and ensure the people surrounding the president are doing the same.

Vance’s perspective and forward vision are why he was chosen for the VP role, why Trump-Vance won, and why Vance continues to be an asset to the administration and successful at what he does.

Like Elon Musk, we “thank the Lord” that JD Vance’s portrait hangs in the White House and he is the one on the job and doing the job well.
