A MAN that was wrongfully accused of murdering a pregnant woman by her husband reveals that the allegations still haunt him.

34 years ago Willie Bennet was accused of killing Carol Stuart, a pregnant woman; but he was not the culprit.

The allegations against Bennet were made by Carol’s husband, Charles Stuart, who was the true murderer of his wife and unborn child.

“It’s over now,” said Bennet to CBS affiliate WBZ-TV in the year 2017.

“I used to get chills every time I used to hear that, that man’s [Charles Stuart] name.”

The murder of Carol Stuart took place in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1989, peaking public interest and shock across the nation.

When asked if he was surprised that he was a suspect for the crimes, Bennet said “Hell no,” and opened up about his criminal past.

“I knew what was going on,” he said.

“They were coming for me anyway because of my past.”

His prior criminal history had made him an easier suspect to pin charges on.

“I was a wild one.”

At the time of the crimes, Charles Stuart called 911 and accused Bennet, claiming that he and his wife had been ambushed by a 6-foot-tall black man wearing a tracksuit.

Charles claimed he and his wife were on their way home after attending a birthing class together when they were both attacked, resulting in the death of his wife.

Shortly before dying, Carol gave birth to her son via C-section named Christopher.

He died 17 days later, with authorities ruling both deaths as a homicide.

Charles was shot in the stomach and survived his wounds.

After months of public scrutiny, Charles’ brother, Matthew, spoke to the police.

He revealed that Charles was responsible for the shooting as a part of an insurance scam, but before he could be arrested, Charles committed suicide.

Bennett attributes his current freedom to Matthew believing that if Charles’ brother had not spoken up, he likely would have ended up in jail.

“No doubt about it, I would have went to jail,” he said.

When asked about Charles, Bennet called him a “monster.”

“I aint got nothing to say about that man,” he said.

“He did what he did and now he’s gone,”

“I’ll see him in hell, if there is a hell.”

Bennett ended up going to prison for 12 years due to armed robbery, a crime he claims he didn’t commit; he was released in 2002.
