FOR most 97-year-olds, picking up the TV remote is about all they can manage.

But Adivaldino Vieira makes light work of lifting even heavy weights as he shows his 21-year-old grandson how it’s done down the gym.

The Brazilian grandad puts most to shame with his gruelling workout routine, which is so impressive a clip of him in action has been viewed more than 1 million times.

Footage shows Adivaldino, known to fans as Grandpa Buga, exercising with his grandson Matheus Vieira at their gym in Caetite, in the state of Bahia.

Dressed in his trademark trilby hat and workout gear, the OAP muscleman can be seen cranking up the resistance on a cable row machine to the maximum.

Adivaldino can also seen getting to grips with a chest-pumping pec-deck machine fly, a chin-up machine and using free weights for bicep curls.

Later Matheus films himself and his grandad pulling bodybuilder poses with every curve of Adivaldino’s physique clearly defined.

Earlier in the footage, Adivaldino is seen being stopped by fellow gym users in the street who marvel at his muscles.

Personal trainer Matheus told local media his grandfather started his workouts because he was curious about what went on there.

Now he is looking for a specialist trainer to take him on full-time.

Adivaldino only gave up work as a carpenter at the age of 93 when his eyesight started to fail.

Social media users have been shocked by his gym workouts.

One user said: “Grandpa is in a better shape than me and it’s not even a meme.”

Another added: “Lucky you, if you don’t take steroids, you’ll easily make it past 97. My family’s genetics only reach 70.”

A third wrote: “I just want to see myself reach grandpa’s age, strong and lucid, with all this junk we consume, the garbage food industry.”
