John Benjamin Toshack Illness Diagnosed As Severe Pneumonia From Covid-19

John Toshack, a Liverpool legend and former Wales manager, is in critical condition following complications with Covid.

According to mirror.co.uk, his condition has worsened in recent hours after doctors determined he had severe pneumonia.

Toshack is said to be in a hospital in Barcelona, where he lives with his wife Maite, after a successful managerial career with Real Madrid and Real Sociedad.

The hospital and his family have yet to issue an official statement.

John Benjamin Toshack is said to be alive but critically ill. He has been in intensive care since then, with his oxygen levels dangerously low and his health status becoming more complicated in the preceding hours.

The condition of the well-traveled manager, who is said to be fully vaccinated, has deteriorated, and he was put on a ventilator yesterday to help him breathe.

The Welshman was rushed to hospital on Monday after becoming ill over the weekend, according to local sources. Toshack began his career with Cardiff City before joining Liverpool in 1970 and forming a strong friendship with Kevin Keegan.

When he was 20, Toshack married Susan Bann of Grangetown, Cardiff, at St John Church in Canton. The couple divorced in 2012 after 43 years of marriage, with his wife accusing him of unreasonable behavior.

Cameron Toshack, Toshack’s son, is also a former professional football player.

John Toshack was born in Cardiff, Wales, and grew up in the Canton neighborhood on Northumberland Street. His father, George, was a carpenter from the Scottish town of Dunfermline.

While stationed at MOD St Athan as a member of the Royal Air Force, he met Toshack’s mother, Joan, and eventually married her.
