Gryan Miers went to undergo surgery for his serious ankle injury. He suffered a syndesmosis injury to his left ankle during training last week, and the Cats have yet to set a return date.

Last season, he was limited to 15 games after breaking his right fibula and then being hit in the same leg.

He rejoined the Cats and appeared in three finals, but he is now racing against the clock to prove his fitness before round one. After undergoing ankle surgery, he will miss the start of the AFL season.
