What Is Hocus Pocus? Meaning Explained 

A fantasy comedy film was released in 1993 about three witches who were accidentally awakened from their dead bodies by a teenage boy on Halloween night in Salem, Massachusetts. The script was written by Neil Cuthbert and Mick Garris, and the film was directed by Kenny Ortega. Hocus Pocus received mixed to negative reviews from critics, and the film was a flop. During its theatrical run, Disney lost nearly $16.5 million. Despite its lackluster success, its sequel, Hocus Pocus 2, was released on Disney+ on September 30, 2022, written by Jen D’Angelo and directed by Anne Fletcher.
