Hollywood star Simon Baker features in the new season of SBS’s popular genealogy series Who Do You Think you Are?

The Tasmanian-born actor, 52, will explore his ancestry with the help of historians and archivists.

A new trailer hints that Simon, who now lives in Bondi Beach, Sydney, may be in for a few surprises about his family history.

According to the promo, Simon’s family was a mystery to him growing up, and he did not even know the identity of his own father.

The trailer teases that Simon will be shocked and perhaps embarrassed by what he learns about his past.

‘What the hell did I agree to do this for?’ he says at one stage, before admitting his immediate family is ‘a mess’.
