Alejandro Garnacho has appeared to take a public swipe at Manchester United in his latest Instagram post, fuelling speculation over his uncertain future at Old Trafford.

The Argentine winger has reportedly been told he is free to leave the club this summer after a frustrating campaign under manager Ruben Amorim. Garnacho was notably dropped for United’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham and was later involved in an altercation with a supporter during the club’s post-season tour of Asia.

While his next move remains unclear, Garnacho seems eager to make his feelings known.

In a series of photos posted from his holiday in Ibiza, one image caught fans’ attention: Garnacho was seen wearing an Aston Villa shirt emblazoned with Marcus Rashford’s name and number on the back.

Rashford, like Garnacho, was frozen out by Amorim last season. The England forward spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Villa Park, where he began to rediscover the form that once made him one of United’s most important players. A permanent exit from Old Trafford now appears likely, with Barcelona among the clubs reportedly interested.

In response to Garnacho’s post, Rashford commented: “My brother.”

Though neither player is expected to remain at United much longer, the gesture — and Rashford’s endorsement — sparked backlash among the club’s fanbase.

“Hilarious slap in the face for fans that backed you up in January, isn’t it,” one supporter wrote. “Too much player power in these footballers.”

Another added: “So instead of getting your head down, fighting and proving yourself, you decide to wear a Villa shirt with Rashford on the back as a clear dig? The only point you’re making is that the manager is right!”

With tensions clearly running high, Garnacho’s post may have deepened the divide between disillusioned fans and discontent players – further highlighting the growing unrest at Manchester United.
