Arda Guler will demand a permanent transfer away from Real Madrid this summer if he is not guaranteed a significant increase in minutes next season, a report in Spain has alleged.

Madrid beat Barcelona to the €17.5m signing of Guler in the summer of 2023 and the 20-year-old has since managed 41 appearances for the club. But just 15 of those have come as a starter, with his average outing lasting just over 36 minutes.

Spanish publication Relevo report that Guler is unimpressed by his limited role and is prepared to demand a permanent exit from the club this summer unless things change.

After two years on the fringes, Guler is said to fear that his career could stall if his struggle for minutes continues and that he will not accept a loan move, instead pushing to leave for good if Madrid fail to meet his demands.

While Guler would ultimately prefer to remain at Madrid and take on a significant role, there is a fear that he will never be able to convince manager Carlo Ancelotti, who has repeatedly called for patience from the Turkiye international.

“I read that there is a Guler case, but that case has not reached me,” Ancelotti said of the speculation recently. “It is a process for him and for all the youngsters. It happened with Rodrygo, Vinicius [Junior], [Federico] Valverde…

“He needs time to join the best squad in the world. Everyone understands that and whoever doesn’t understand it… has to do so.”
