Stuttgart midfielder Enzo Millot has admitted his desire to leave the club this summer amid transfer interest from both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Millot, 22, joined from Monaco in 2021 for a paltry fee in the region of €1.5m and has since become one of the Bundesliga’s most intriguing young midfielders. He was integral to Stuttgart’s surprise second-placed finish last season and, despite an overall drop-off from the team this year, Millot is still enjoying the best statistical campaign of his career with eight goals and seven assists.

Such form has piqued the interest of a number of sides across the globe. Chelsea and Liverpool were both credited with an interest in Millot in January, while German publication BILD name Arsenal and Tottenham as suitors heading into the summer transfer window.

Central to Millot’s future is a bargain release clause of just under €20m (£16.8m), which is widely accepted to be well below the France Under-21 star’s true value.

As he gathered for international duty this week, Millot admitted to a press conference that he is looking to leave Stuttgart this summer.

“Of course, that’s a goal I have set for myself,” he told reporters, before insisting he would be happy to remain with Stuttgart because of the club’s commitment to developing young players like himself.

Arsenal are expected to chase midfield reinforcements this summer and have been credited with interest in both Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi and Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes, both of whom would be significantly more expensive than Millot.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are likely to rejuvenate their squad after a bitterly disappointing campaign in which injuries have exposed a distinct lack of depth in attacking midfield. A likely absence of Champions League football could restrict their spending power and force Spurs to look at cost-cutting options.
