Manchester United fell to their 15th defeat of the season as Wolverhampton Wanderers secured a 1-0 win at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim promised to rotate his squad and prioritise United’s Europa League journey, which led to a predictably disjointed affair. Bruno Fernandes started on the bench in a clear sign that this game was not the focus for United.

The game was largely void of any real quality before Pablo Sarabia’s stunning free kick crashed into Andre Onana’s net with a little over ten minutes to go to hand United an eighth home defeat for the first time in 60 years.

The win sees Wolves, who started the game in 17th, move level on points with 14th-placed United. The Red Devils have their superior goal difference to thank for remaining ahead.

Tottenham Hotspur could climb above both sides on Monday when they take on European hopefuls Nottingham Forest.
