Bayern Munich have released their new adidas away shirt for next season, paying tribute to the Allianz Arena after moving into the iconic stadium 20 years ago.

The design and colour of the white jersey, featuring grey and coral patterning, is directly influenced by the inmistakable outer shell of the club’s home since 2005.

Bayern had previously spent more than 30 years at Munich’s Olympiastadion, another architecturally curious venue, with plans for a new stadium taking shape in the early 21st century. It opened at the end of the 2004/05 season and hosted 2006 World Cup games the following year.

Bayern, Bundesliga champions again following Bayer Leverkusen’s draw on Sunday, will debut the new away kit in their penultimate domestic game of the campaign on 10 May.

Although it is a home game against Borussia Monchengladbach, it is fitting that the Allianz Arena is the stage for a shirt that is inspired by the stadium. It will also mark the home send-off for club legend Thomas Muller, who will leave Bayern at the end of the season.
