Jamie Redknapp has criticized Liverpool’s squad for seemingly disregarding Arne Slot’s instructions to halt play when Joe Gomez sustained an injury.

During a seven-minute stretch, Slot was eager to introduce Wataru Endo onto the field after Gomez was accidentally hurt by Alisson.

By the time the substitution was finally made, Bournemouth had managed to extend their lead.

Redknapp expressed his disbelief, saying, “It’s astonishing that it took seven minutes for Liverpool to initiate a substitution in today’s game.

‘I’m not solely blaming the manager or his team. Players sometimes need to step up and take charge of the situation.

‘Nobody is saying, let’s get the ball out of play. They don’t take the opportunity. Someone has to take this responsibility.

‘Arne Slot is telling his players to get the ball out of play. Just get him on the pitch. It’s of paramount importance that you get him [Endo] on. Get your kit off and get on the pitch, mate.

‘You’ve never got control with 10 men. Slot is telling Alisson to kick it out of play [in another moment].

‘I used the words amateurs at half-time. It’s not good enough.

‘Kerkez defends awfully for the goal. Jimenez is making a really good run, Kerkez’s body position is wrong. It was a great piece of play and a brilliant finish.

‘Endo should have been on the pitch four minutes earlier. If he was on, the goal doesn’t happen.’
