Chelsea have been ‘GREEDY’ in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a late loan move for Hakim Ziyech, reports in France claim, as the Morocco star attempts to push through a deadline day switch to the French giants
Hakim Ziyech is ‘attempting to persuade Chelsea’ to let him join Paris Saint-Germain, as L’Equipe report the West London club has been ‘greedy’ in negotiations.
The former Ajax winger has endured a miserable two-and-a-half year spell at Stamford Bridge and previously travelled to Paris in a bid to seal a move to the French titans.
The Blues were open to letting the player leave on loan, after the club revealed they would be keen to let the player leave to a non-Premier League rival before the end of the January transfer window.
Hakim Ziyech has struggled at Chelsea since arriving at the club in 2020
The Morocco star is now attempting to push through a loan move to Paris Saint-Germain
According to reports in L’Equipe, the midfielder has ‘made it clear’ he wants to join PSG this window after ‘completing a medical on Tuesday.’
They also claim the 29-year-old has ‘directly intervened’ in exchanges between the two clubs as negotiations continue with Chelsea taking a ‘greedy’ approach.
Despite starring for the Atlas Lions in their remarkable run to the World Cup semi-finals – becoming the first African side to do so – Ziyech has continued to struggle at Chelsea this season after a poor first term.
As such the Blues were willing to let him leave, with PSG offering themselves as a potential destination.
The move would see him linking up with fellow Atlas Lions star Achraf Hakimi
Ziyech is yet to score in all competitions this season for Chelsea and has only one assist
At the Parc des Princes, he would reunite with compatriot Achraf Hakimi, who was equally key in their nation’s run to the last-four of the World Cup.
As well as the French champions, Serie A giants Roma had also been interested in signing the Moroccan attacker this month, with the Giallorossi looking to climb into the Europa League places in the Italian top-flight.
Jose Mourinho was reportedly keen on bringing the 29-year-old to the Italian capital, but must first generate the necessary £25million to do so.
With the club bringing in the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk, Joao Felix and Noni Madueke this month, Graham Potter will be keen to offload several players that will be losing their place in the side.
He has already averaged fewer than 45 minutes a game in his 10 appearances for the Blues in the league, and is yet to score in all competitions, assisting just once.
