Chicago Bulls’ Nikola Vucevic fined $15,000 by NBA for ‘obscene gesture’ after flipping the bird in the team’s midweek loss to the New Orleans Pelicans

Chicago center Nikola Vucevic has been fined $15,000 by the National Basketball Association.

It follows an ‘obscene gesture’ made by the 32-year-old during his team’s 115-111 loss to New Orleans. 

The league announced the punishment in a press release Friday by Joe Dumars, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations.

Vucevic was called for a travel with 4:32 remaining in the first quarter. Following the whistle, he harmlessly put up a shot. 

As he wheeled away to the other end of the court, the former Magic man flipped the bird at someone inside the United Center arena. 

The Montenegrin had 18 points, shooting six-of-nine from the field and 50% from three on the night. He also added seven rebounds and two assists.

Thus far in the 2022-23 season, Vucevic is averaging 16.5 points, 11.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists through 13 games. 

Chicago currently sit 8th in the Eastern Conference with a 6-7 record.

The Bulls have lost three of their last four games and face a tough task in the 8-4 Denver Nuggets Sunday night at home.

They trail the Milwaukee Bucks (10-2) and Cleveland Cavaliers (8-4) in the East Central division.
