Liverpool supporters awoke on a bright Friday morning to the most glorious news. Mohamed Salah’s story on Merseyside is continuing for another two years.

The Reds look poised to claim Premier League title number two in Arne Slot’s first season at the helm, and their domestic success has come amid a backdrop of contract angst.

News broke last month of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s desire to join Real Madrid as a free agent, piling the pressure on Liverpool to secure the futures of their two other leading protagonists. FSG have long been against retaining the services of ageing stars, but Salah and Virgil van Dijk are exceptions to the rule.

They’ve committed to Salah, and Van Dijk’s set to extend, too. Neither player looks capable of slowing down anytime soon, and Liverpool have rewarded the Egyptian superstar for his majestic individual campaign by offering him a salary increase.

Here’s how his new contract compares to his Liverpool teammates, and the rest of the Premier League.

The Daily Mail report Salah to now be earning £380,000 per week after signing a new two-year contract. He was previously making a poultry £350,000 per week.

According to Spotrac, the 32-year-old is one of just two Reds stars who make more than £200,000-a-week – the other being Van Dijk, who’s likely to earn a salary boost after he puts pen to paper.

The departing Alexander-Arnold is sacrificing his £180,000-a-week wage for the riches of Madrid, while nine players – Andy Robertson, Alisson, Federico Chiesa, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai – currently earn between £120,000 and £160,000 per week. Slot’s preferred starting midfield this season – Gravenberch, Mac Allister, and Szoboszlai – may all be drawn to the negotiating table over the next year.

Luis Diaz’s £55,000-a-week wage is comparatively low, while Curtis Jones’ reported £15,000 weekly salary is surely due an upgrade given the role he’s played for the club in recent seasons.

Salah’s previous Liverpool contract rendered him one of the Premier League’s highest-paid players, and his new deal sees him climb a spot in the rankings.

The Egyptian’s usurped Casemiro’s reported £350,000-a-week wage but falls just short of Kevin De Bruyne’s £400,000 – per Spotrac. The Belgian, however, is leaving Manchester City at the end of the season.

As a result, Salah is likely to begin the 2025/26 season as the Premier League’s second-highest earner. Only Erling Haaland, who signed a whopping nine-and-a-half-year deal with the Cityzens earlier this year, will be earning more. The two-time Golden Boot winner is now believed to earn as much as £500,000 each week in Manchester.

Marcus Rashford, Bernardo Silva, Bruno Fernandes and Jack Grealish are understood to be the only other Premier League players banking weekly salaries upwards of £300,000. Omar Marmoush (£295,000) and Kai Havertz (£280,000) just fall short.
