Barcelona is set to replace its usual sponsor logo with Ed Sheeran’s name during their highly anticipated El Clasico match against Real Madrid next month. This continues the club’s tradition of showcasing music icons on their jerseys, thanks to their partnership with Spotify.

Spotify, which holds the naming rights to Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium, has previously swapped out the sponsor for notable music artists during significant matches. Past collaborations have included Drake, Rosalía, The Rolling Stones, Karol G, Coldplay, and Travis Scott.

Ed Sheeran will join this prestigious list when Barcelona visits the Santiago Bernabéu on October 26.

According to reports from Catalan media outlet RAC1, the team’s jerseys may feature either Sheeran’s name or the logo of his latest album, “Play.” This information is supported by Barca kit expert @memorabilia1899, who mentioned that both designs are under consideration.

As with previous collaborations, a lifestyle collection tied to the special shirt may also drop, with proceeds often directed towards charity, though no details have been confirmed this time around.

Sheeran – who, fittingly, once released a song titled “Barcelona” back in 2017 – released “Play” on September 12 to mixed reviews.

If Hansi Flick’s side, however, can beat Madrid in the Sheeran-stamped shirts, you can bet the Catalan faithful will be screaming it out loud (see what we did there?).
