TNT Sports under fire again

TNT Sports has faced backlash for its Ashes series coverage, with an unusual commentary incident occurring just moments before Ben Stokes was out.

As Stokes was settling in after three balls, the broadcast unexpectedly switched back to a replay of Jamie Smith’s run out.

Commentator Rob Hatch, seemingly unaware it was a replay, mistakenly announced the run out as if it were happening live, believing Stokes had been dismissed instead of Smith.

“It’s happening again, it’s happening again! Stokes goes, two run outs in two overs, England are imploding!” exclaimed Hatch.

He soon paused briefly, realizing he had been narrating a replay.

Hatch then added: ‘Well, thankfully someone’s looking out the window of the box, and it’s Alaister Cook!’

Alastair Cook made light of the situation: ‘It was just a replay, nightmares can happen!

‘Good news for people who are waking up, they are six wickets down,’ Cook added. ‘Rob was giving them seven, but we’ll forgive ya, we’re not used to four days. If you were dozing you’ve woken up now rob. Stokes is still there, it’s fine!’

But Stokes wasn’t there for much longer, with the England skipper being removed on the next ball, edging a delivery from Beau Webster out to Steve Smith.
