Erling Haaland IS human after all! Man City star misses TWO penalties for Norway in World Cup qualifier in remarkable scenes... before normal service resumes with sensational hat-trick

Erling Haaland’s golden touch at the start of the season briefly deserted him as the Man City star missed a penalty and a retaken spot in Norway’s key World Cup qualifier – before making amends with a superb hat-trick.

Haaland has been in lethal form so far this season, with the forward having scored in all but one match he has featured in to date.

Heading into Norway’s clash against Israel, Haaland had scored 13 goals in his last 10 appearances.

Haaland sent his first effort low to the goalkeeper’s right, but Daniel Peretz guessed correctly and palmed the ball away to safety.

The forward was given a second chance from the spot when it was revealed that Peretz had come off his line too early.

Haaland stepped up for the second time and was again denied by Peretz, who correctly dived to his left hand side and pushed away the Norwegian’s effort.

The 25-year-old’s blushes were quickly spared as Norway took an 18th minute lead against Israel through an Anan Khalaili own goal.

Haaland did not take long, either, to put his misses from the spot behind him and get on the scoresheet again.

The forward sprinted onto a through ball from Alexander Sorloth in the 26th minute and drove towards the Israel goal.

Haaland expertly shifted the ball from his left foot to his right, before steering a low effort into the bottom corner to double Norway’s advantage.

The effort saw Haaland score for the 10th consecutive match, representing club and country.

Tottenham were the last, and only, team to stop Haaland scoring this season in their 2-0 victory over Man City back in August.

Norway were celebrating again almost immediately after Haaland had put them 2-0 ahead.

Idan Nachmias put through his own net just one minute later, Israel’s second own goal of the match, to put them 3-0 behind in Oslo.

Haaland and Norway continued their domination after half-time, with the forward scoring his second of the match just after the hour mark.

The early penalty misses were put completely to the back of his mind when Haaland completed his hat-trick in the 72nd minute, heading in from a cross at the far post to put Norway 5-0 up.

The hat-trick saw Haaland pass a milestone 50th goal for Norway, with the forward now having scored 51 in just 46 matches for the national team.

Haaland’s goals have been central to Norway’s efforts to qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1998.

The Man City forward is the top scorer in European qualifying, having now netted 12 in six matches – double the tally of the next highest scorers in the competition.

Norway are on course to maintain their perfect record of six straight wins in their group, putting them nine points clear of Italy.

Italy have two matches in hand, starting with a match away to Estonia before facing Israel next week.

Gennaro Gattuso’s would have little room for error given Norway’s points tally, which would likely need them to win their next three matches, before facing their rivals in their final group match next month.
