FC Koln have kicked off their Bundesliga campaign in perfect style, winning both of their opening games, the latest being a dominant 4-1 victory over Freiburg. But while the results have been impressive, it’s manager Lukas Kwasniok who has been grabbing the spotlight.

Instead of the usual suit or tracksuit, the Polish coach has turned heads by donning Koln’s own match shirts on the sidelines.

He wore the away kit on the opening weekend against Mainz, before switching to the third kit for the Freiburg clash.

Explaining the decision, Kwasniok said he wanted to show his dedication to the club.

“I saw the jersey presentation at a sponsor event and got goosebumps. And the same with the black jersey. Then the decision was clear for me: if I’m allowed to do it, I will,” he said in a post-match interview atfer Koln’s opening day win over Mainz. “I want to commit to this club, and I do, and I also wear this jersey with pride.”

With a grin, he also admitted there was a personal reason behind the choice: “I thought that the combination of black and white-red makes you look a bit slimmer. From what I saw on TV after the game, that didn’t really work out so well.”

Koln now sit third in the Bundesliga behind only Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt. And with momentum on their side, it’s unlikely anyone will mind if their manager keeps rocking the club colours every weekend.
