Late in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference first-round series between the Boston Bruins and the Florida Panthers, hot mics caught Panthers center Eric Staal yelling at Bruins forward Tomas Nosek for a high hit.

In a battle in the corner in the third period, while following through on a check on Staal, Nosek raised his elbow up and appeared to hit Staal on the head – sending him to the ice.

The hit was not noticed by any officials on the ice and Nosek was not penalized for the infraction.

During a stoppage in play, Staal staked over to his bench and called out Nosek right in front of the microphone of ESPN reporter Ray Ferraro.

‘Good hit, good clean hit, that’s f***in nice,’ Staal yelled over sarcastically to which Nosek responded by telling him to shut up.

A still irate Stall yelled again, ‘Good clean hit you f***in loser’, before sitting down on the bench.

This incident came a day after Toronto Maple Leafs forward Michael Bunting laid a similar hit on Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Erik Cernak.

Cernak was injured and left the game while Bunting received a match penalty and was ejected. Bunting was later suspended for three games by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety.

Player Safety has not announced anything regarding a hearing for Nosek’s hit.

The Panthers won the game by a 6-3 final score to tie the series 1-1. Game 3 is Friday night in Sunrise, Florida.
