But any possibly that the 35-year-old could be returning to the Camp Nou now seem to be out the window.

According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Messi has made a verbal pact to PSG to continue together.

It’s understood there will soon be a new meeting with his camp to discuss length of contract, salary and more.

The new deal isn’t expected to be signed this week, with both parties seeing no rush in getting a renewed contract over the line as the plan for him to stay is already clear.

Messi finally ticked off the final piece of silverware that had been evading him throughout his career this winter, lifting the World Cup with Argentina in Qatar.

But it looks as though his World Cup win hasn’t led him to look elsewhere, despite previous claims Barcelona had been looking to re-sign their club legend in the January window.
