Marc Guehi’s goodbye video from Crystal Palace has surfaced online, despite the centre-back’s £35 million transfer to Liverpool collapsing at the final hurdle.

The England international was on the brink of a switch to Anfield after Liverpool struck a deal with Palace and Guehi passed a medical in London.

But Palace’s hopes of bringing in a replacement fell through when Brighton defender Igor Julio chose West Ham instead, leaving Palace with no choice but to block Guehi’s departure.

That, however, didn’t stop his farewell video from emerging on X. The three-minute clip featured a montage of Guehi’s finest Palace moments since arriving from Chelsea in 2021, including goals, defensive highlights, and celebrations from the club’s FA Cup triumph earlier this year.

It ended with the message: “Thank you, Skip” – a nod to his role as captain.

For now, of course, there will be no farewell. Guehi remains at Selhurst Park, much to the delight of Palace fans, who have seen him develop into one of the Premier League’s top defenders. The 24-year-old has also cemented his place in the England squad, helping them reach the Euro 2024 final.

He’s started this season in superb form too, scoring in Palace’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa and helping them stay unbeaten across six matches in all competitions.

Whether Palace can keep hold of him beyond January remains to be seen – but supporters will be more than happy to enjoy his presence for as long as it lasts.
