Former New England Patriots teammates Asante Samuel and Darrelle Revis have been engaged in a war of words in Twitter over the last few days. Both cornerbacks have been insulting and roasting each other on social media.

It all started from a tweet by Asante Samuel wherein he replied to ESPN’s top 10 cornerback rankings for 2023 .“The New York media will take your career to another level,” he said after seeing they had placed 2022 Defensive Rookie of the Year Sauce Gardner after Denver Broncos’ man Patrick Surtain II.

This was also an indirect insult towards Darrelle Revis who spent nine years with the New York Jets. “It’s the NY media. What did Revis do so special? I’ll wait… It’s documented what great cornerbacks did in the stats.”

The tweet literally says those were the cornerback rankings by players, executives, scouts and coaches… I’m trynna (sic) figure out why you keep bringing up NY Media,” Gardner said in reply to Asante Samuel’s tweet.

Darrelle Revis seems to be fully fired up for the online war of words with Asante Samuel and is not backing down. He savagely roasted Samuel by reminding him of his failure in the 2008 Super Bowl which cost them the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Asante Samuel failed to hold onto a fairly simple interception during the night of the finals and that was the turning point of the game. It could’ve been another Super Bowl ring for Tom Brady but instead, the New York Giants managed to sniff out the win riding on Plaxico Burress’ dramatic touchdown in the dying moments.

“A high school cornerback could have picked this pass off,” Revis said. “This goes to show you ain’t elite. Could have been a hero but you choked and cost your team and Tom Brady a Super Bowl.”

The New York Jets cornerback will be inducted into the franchise’s Hall of Fame this summer along with defensive lineman Joe Klecko. Darrelle Revis spent a total of nine years with the Jets but played for the New England Patriots in between wherein he even lifted the Super Bowl.
