Liverpool will face Newcastle United in the 2025 Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium next month, when the first major trophy of the season will be handed out.

After Newcastle booked their place in the March showpiece on Wednesday by completing a 4-0 aggregate rout of Arsenal, Liverpool followed on Thursday. The Reds prevailed 4-0 over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield, successfully turning around an aggregate deficit.

It took Liverpool just over half an hour to erase Tottenham’s narrow advantage from the first leg, with Cody Gakpo firing past Antonin Kinsky after Mohamed Salah’s cross made it all the way to the far post. Dominik Szoboszlai had earlier seen a strike ruled out for offside as well.

At that point, it was a straight shootout for Wembley and Liverpool had close to an hour with a vocal home crowd behind them, with a still heavily depleted Spurs side trying to cling on.

Salah confidently put Liverpool ahead on aggregate from the penalty spot after Kinsky was adjudged to have brought down Darwin Nunez as both raced to meet a through ball first.

Gakpo was denied a Liverpool third by Kinsky pushing his shot onto the post, while Ryan Gravenberch also struck the upright with a powerful drive. And, having earlier had one chalked off, Szoboszlai provided daylight with 15 minutes to play after an incisive team move.

Son Heung-min smacked the crossbar from a narrow angle, but an unmarked Virgil van Dijk further compounded Tottenham’s misery late on by glancing in Conor Bradley’s in-swinging corner.
